Property size: 747,595 sq. ft.
Situation: The 45-year-old building at 2000 Westchester had multiple large, single belt-driven plenum fans circulating air throughout the building. The fan model aged out of the market— components and maintenance solutions took time to source and led to significant downtime. Constantly failing and needing repair, the building manager sought a solution to increase capacity and efficiency.
The Process
A 1977 Building With a Belt-Driven Problem.
Q-PAC teamed with New York-based manufacturers HTS NY to select a customized solution. Q-PAC's FS1 Fan System optimizes energy usage to cut inflated utility bills. The kitted FS1 arrived pre-fit to the AHU specifications. Straightforward installation and patented “plug-and-play" components eliminated usual transition and retrofit complications. The modular design met current needs while making possible scalable innovation.
The Results
Retrofitted with a Modern Solution.
The FS1 Fan System replaces the belt-driven fans' belts, bearings, and springs with hyper-efficient electronic sensors. The FS1 Fan System exceeded the building manager's expectations, using 12.7% less kW at full load with 93% motor efficiency.
