The Situation

Franklin Templeton Building

Project location: St. Petersburg, FL
Property size: 280,000 sq. ft.

Situation: Upgrade the outdated belt-driven centrifugal fan and install a new filtration system with UV lights without modifying the AHU housing.

The Process

Exchanging One, Big Fan for a 10-Fan Array

Since its construction in 1997, The Franklin Templeton Building has operated with a single belt-driven centrifugal fan for ventilation. In the last few years, the maintenance and repair expenses exceeded the annual allocated budget. The retrofit required accessing limited space (34" x72" equipment room doorway) and no modification of the existing AHU housing, heightening the project's difficulty.

The Results

Big Demands, Tight Spaces.

The Q-PAC team worked closely with Carroll Air Systems and ISS Mechanical representatives to craft the solution. Utilizing QUIPS– Q-PAC's automated selection and submittal tool– Carroll Air Systems and ISS Mechanical designed an integrated, modular FS1 Fan System that met the project's spacing and performance requirements. The FS1 Fan System came pre-harness, pre-wired, and pre-measured to fit the space constraints and was kitted to provide straightforward, quick installation for the contractors. Q-PAC provided on-site installation support to the mechanical contractor.

Within 7 hours, The FS1 solution went operational and replaced the outdated centrifugal fan. Flexible, functional, and compact– Q-PAC was able to meet the contractors' and building's needs efficiently, with no special rigging or demolition required. The Franklin Templeton building invested in future savings– the FS1 Fan System eliminates the need for maintenance and provides comprehensive performance specs to meet needs now and can be updated if requirements change in the future.
