This value should represent the combined air volume, in CFM, needed to properly serve your existing HVAC system or anticipated future installations.

• If planning for future expansion, seasonal load changes, or increased building occupancy, consider selecting a fan that allows additional capacity to handle higher airflow requirements later.
• For retrofit applications, match or slightly exceed the airflow of your existing fan to maintain or improve performance.
• For applications requiring higher airflow volumes, contact our team to explore multi-fan options. Up to four Q-PAC MPFs can be combined to generate airflows up to 350,000 CFM.

Enter the total static pressure (inches of water column, inWc) required for your air-handling system. This value represents the resistance to airflow that the fan must overcome throughout the ductwork, filters, coils, dampers, and other components.

• Include all system components contributing to resistance, from intake to discharge.
• For retrofit applications, use the existing fan's total static pressure or field-measured data as a reference.
• If planning for system expansion, seasonal filter loading, or higher occupancy, consider adding a safety margin to ensure reliable operation under peak conditions.

Enter the interior cabinet dimensions, as width and height, of the air-handling unit where the fan will be installed. These values represent the usable internal space, and already include a 0.5-inch offset to account for manufacturing tolerances, installation clearance, and dimensional variances.

When determining these dimensions:

• Measure the inside width and height of the fan section or compartment where the Q-PAC Fan will be located.
• Do not include additional space for clearances — the configurator automatically includes a 0.5" allowance.
• Ensure that your cabinet dimensions provide adequate space for both upstream and downstream airflow.

Recommendations:

Q-PAC recommends maintaining a minimum of 76 inches between upstream and downstream obstructions. This ensures:

• 36 inches of downstream clearance for smooth airflow and system efficiency.
• 18 inches of upstream clearance for proper inlet conditions.
• Allowance for the depth of the fan assembly itself.

The Q-PAC Fan can install on existing flanges ranging from ⁵⁄₈ inch to 1¹⁄₄ inches thick.

• When installing to an existing flange, take measurements from the end of one flange to the end of the next. Increase the measured width and height by 2 inches to achieve a 1-inch overlap between the Q-PAC Fan and the flange, ensuring a secure and properly sealed fit.
• If there is no existing flange, each fan includes a set of 1-1/4” Perimeter Angles which serve as an adapter flange to mount the fan to any air handler.

Tip: Verifying these clearances during design helps ensure optimal fan performance, reduced turbulence, and ease of installation.

Select the input voltage that matches your building's available power supply. The Q-PAC Fan requires three-phase power, operating at either 200–240V or 440–480V, 60Hz.

When specifying input voltage:

• Verify that the selected voltage matches the power available at the installation site.
• The Q-PAC Fan must be powered by a three-phase source — single-phase power is not supported.
• If the fan is not connected to a control panel, it must be connected to a field-supplied disconnect, as required by NEC 430.102(B).

Tip: Always confirm voltage compatibility and wiring configuration before installation to ensure safe operation and optimal motor performance.

Fan-Only: The Q-PAC Fan is provided without an external control panel or disconnect. The fan is intended to be connected to a third party disconnect or control panel for integration.

Fused Disconnect: The Q-PAC Fan is provided with a Schneider VisiPacT heavy duty safety switch, with fan controls integrated directly into the BMS or preferred controller.

Basic Control Panel: The Q-PAC Basic Control Panel provides essential control, monitoring, and protection for Q-PAC Fans in a single enclosure. It supports local operation along with basic start/stop functions and safety circuit integration. Rated to UL 508A standards, it’s available for both indoor and outdoor installations and suited for a wide range of HVAC applications.

Premium Control Panel: The Q-PAC Premium Control Panel is a 508A-rated panel that delivers advanced control, monitoring, and protection for Q-PAC Fans all in one enclosure. It supports multiple control modes, real-time performance monitoring, and BACnet MS/TP or IP communication. Rated to UL 508A standards, it’s built for both indoor and outdoor use and engineered to handle the most demanding HVAC applications.

Select the appropriate enclosure rating based on your installation environment. Q-PAC offers both indoor and outdoor-rated enclosures to ensure reliable operation and long-term durability under varying conditions.

Basic Control Panels: Provided in a Type 4 enclosure, suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. This panel offers robust protection against dust, moisture, and direct water exposure.

Premium Control Panels: Available in two configurations:

• Type 1 (Indoor Only): Designed for clean, controlled environments.
• Type 4 (Outdoor Rated): Features a hinged access door that protects the HMI touchscreen from weather and debris while maintaining easy access for operation and service.

Fused Disconnect: The Disconnect enclosure is available in two protection levels: Type 1 (Indoor Only) and Type 3R (Outdoor Rated).

This field controls the location of the Fan Controller, which serves as the single point of connection for both power and control on the Q-PAC Fan Frame.

When configuring your system:

• The Fan Controller will be mounted on either the far LEFT or far RIGHT frame panel, depending on your cabinet layout and wiring preferences.
• All incoming power and control connections are made directly to this controller, simplifying installation and reducing field wiring complexity.
• The Fan Controller enclosure includes two knockout ports (¹⁄₂", ³⁄₄", and 1") on both the top and bottom of the controller shell, providing flexibility for conduit routing and entry.

Tip: Choose the controller location that best aligns with your existing electrical access or control panel position to minimize cabling distance and ensure a clean, efficient installation.

Resiliency measures the fan system's ability to maintain required airflow in the event of a motor failure within the fan. It indicates how much airflow the system can still deliver if one fan or motor goes offline.

• A Resiliency value of 100% or greater means the fan can continue to meet the full required airflow even with a motor failure.
• A value below 100% indicates the system will only provide that percentage of the target airflow under a failure condition.

The Fan Energy Index (FEI) is a standardized metric that measures the energy efficiency of a fan or fan system when operating at a specific duty point. It compares the fan's performance to a baseline fan that just meets minimum efficiency requirements. An FEI greater than 1.00 indicates the fan system is more energy-efficient than the baseline.

Note:
Certain applications or regional energy codes may require higher minimum FEI values than the general standard of 1.00. Always refer to the applicable local codes and efficiency standards (such as ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, or state-specific regulations) to ensure compliance.

Wire-to-Air Static Efficiency represents the overall efficiency of the fan system — from the electrical input power (“wire”) to the usable air power (“air”) delivered by the fan. It reflects how effectively the fan converts electrical energy into static air movement within the system and accounts for all system losses, including:

• The EC motor and electronics losses
• The impeller losses
• System pressure and airflow conditions

Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) is the minimum current rating that the branch circuit conductors must safely carry to supply power to the fan system. It represents the total continuous current load of the equipment plus a safety margin, as defined by the National Electrical Code (NEC).

The total electrical current (in amperes) drawn by the fan under normal operating conditions at the specified airflow and static pressure. It reflects the actual running load of the fan, including all motors and integrated electronics.

RATED POWER: The maximum electrical power (in horsepower) the fan system would draw under full load conditions, assuming each motor operates at its maximum rated power.

OPERATING POWER: The actual electrical power the fan system uses under normal operating conditions — at the selected airflow and static pressure point.

The construction material of the fan wheel, influencing strength, efficiency, corrosion resistance, and acoustic performance. There are two primary impeller materials used in Q-PAC Fans:

• Aluminum: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, ideal for general HVAC applications. Offers excellent balance of performance and durability.
• High-Performance Composite: Advanced engineered material designed for enhanced efficiency, reduced noise, and improved chemical resistance. Recommended for environments where weight, acoustic performance, or corrosive exposure are considerations.

Fan performance curves show how the fan behaves under varying conditions.

• Static Pressure vs. CFM illustrates how airflow decreases as system resistance increases.
• Input Power vs. CFM shows how power demand rises with airflow and speed.

The graph identifies the operating speed and the maximum operating speed (maximum CFM). These points help confirm that the fan meets airflow needs while operating efficiently.
