What You Need to Measure
To spec out a multimotor plenum fan for your commercial AHU, gather the following:
✅ Width & Height of Your System – This is exactly what it sounds like. Grab a tape measure and note the dimensions of your air handler’s cabinet or airstream. Example: 64” x 98”.
✅ CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) & TSP (Total Static Pressure) – You need to know how much air your system is moving (CFM) and how much pressure your fan needs to overcome (TSP). If you're unsure, check your existing system’s nameplate or ask your mechanical engineer.
✅ Power Supply – Is your system running 208V, 460V, or something else? Knowing your power requirements ensures compatibility from day one.
Actually, Two More Things...
Depth is important, but so is flexibility in placement. These aren’t the same thing—but both can make or break your installation.
1️⃣ Check Your Depth – You need at least 18 inches of clearance between the fan and whatever is immediately downstream—whether that’s a coil, damper, or duct transition.
2️⃣ Measure Multiple Locations – If your AHU has more than one possible fan location, measure all of them. This way, when you enter your specs into QUIPS, you’ll have the best range of options—not just what fits in one specific spot.
